The Akkeshi Keichitsu is the 10th release in the Hokkaido based distillery’s 24 Solar Terms Series. The series thus far has been thoroughly enjoyed by whisky drinkers around the globe, thanks to the unique, delicious and compelling notes housed in each bottle. This new release looks to pick up where the last one left off, with incredible notes of sticky toffee, sea salt, citrus fruits and cinnamon spice being the stars of the show.
“Keichitsu” is the third day of the Japanese solar terms. In English, “Kei” translates to “open” and “Chitsu” means “insects stay in the ground for the winter”. This time of year is said to be when the weather warms up and the insects come out from hiding underground. This warmer climate also speeds up the whisky maturation process, resulting in deeper, more complex flavours.
