In his 2015 Whisky Bible, he ranked Yamazaki Sherry Cask as the world’s best whisky. Japanese Whisky continues to receive new accolades each year at international spirits competitions, so many that it can be difficult to keep track. Check out all of the award winners below:

Hibiki 21

The Hibiki 21 Year Old is the most awarded whisky from all of Japan, and in fact one of the most awarded whisky in the world. Awarded as the best blended whisky in the world again and again and again, it is pretty safe to say that the Hibiki has outclassed even the most prestigious of Scottish blends.

Hakushu 25 Year

Another world class whisky, the Hakushu is the “third whisky” from Suntory, like the Hibiki and the Yamazaki it is in a class of its own. It was selected as the best Japanese single malt at the World Whisky Awards in 2016 and recived a gold award at the International Spirits Challenge in 2013-2015. And for a good reason too!

Yamazaki 18 Year

One of our favorites. Yamazaki’s legendary 18 year old earned a Gold at the 2007 International Spirits Challenge and a Double Gold at the 2005 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Nikka Taketsuru 17 Year

It’s a good indication that a company is certain about the quality of its product when it names it after the company founder. If you want to try the best there is, then the Taketsuru is your bottle!

  • An elite bottle for those who demand only the best. As you can see the Taketsuru features prominently at international whisky award ceremonies. This should come as a no surprise to anyone who has ever tried it, the Taketsuru is named after the founder of the company, is truly is world class stuff!

Nikka From The Barrel

Nikka From the Barrel is was a surprise winner for some at the World Whiskies Award in 2016 when it was named the best blended Japanese whisky. Priced very moderately and hugely popular in Europe, especially France. It is without a doubt worth every penny!
