Japan’s first farm-to-bottle single malt whisky
Kiyokawa’s Iiyama Mountain Farm Distillery is the only farm-to-bottle distillery in all of Japan. The distillers here work with a passionate team of local farmers, who grow a unique strain of mountain barley in the distillery grounds. This strain was specifically designed to be able to withstand the dramatic shifts in climate present in the Iiyama valley.
Matured in Ex-Pedro Ximenez
For their first release, Kiyokawa bottled a 3 Year Old single malt that had been maturing in an ex-Pedro Ximenez cask. The cask has imparted a mouthwatering array of notes on to the smooth, creamy spirit.
Homegrown Design
Each bottle features a luxurious handmade washi-paper label, produced using barley husks that would otherwise go to waste, highlighting Kiyokawa’s commitment to a sustainable approach. The labels are also made locally and the whisky is bottled on site at the distillery, reinforcing their focus on end-to-end production.
Every bottle is then housed in a wooden presentation box that would look the part in even the most impressive of whisky cabinets.
