There is a reason Suntory keeps winning awards after awards for its whiskies. Considered by many to be the best whisky in the world, the Yamazaki continues to sell like hot cakes. The Puncheon is an especially exiting bottle for Yamazaki fans, matured in a 480 litre puncheon cask which is larger than your regular hogshead cask and bottled at 48% giving it a uniquely sweet aroma and flavor. This bottle is in one word incredible!
Yamazaki is Japan’s oldest whisky distillery opened in 1923, it was founded by Shinjiro Torii near Oaska. The location was chosen because of the excellent water supply in the area. This seems to have payed off, today Single Malts from the Yamazaki distillery has the largest share of any single malts whiskies in Japan. The 18 year old Yamazaki Single Malts is thought by many to be the best whisky in the world and has for example won six consecutive double gold medals at the San Francisco Spirits Competitions from 2008 to 2013.
