Enjoy what the Suntory Yamazaki 12 Year Old Miniature Gift Set has to offer. After 12 years of maturation, this 43% strength pure malt whisky was released.
Japan’s oldest whisky manufacturer is Suntory. Its history begins with a tiny shop that Torii Shinjiro opened in 1899 and sold only foreign wines. Japan’s first seriously advertised single malt was the Yamazaki 12 year old, which was originally released in 1984. The 12-year-old expression was moved up in the core range and became more elusive once the Distiller’s Reserve was introduced in 2014.
Established in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii, Yamazaki is the flagship distillery of Suntory. The town of Yamazaki was selected to house Japan’s first commercial distillery because of its climate, which is reminiscent of Scotland, and the fact that three rivers merge there. Yamazaki used to produce grain and malt for Suntory’s blends, but in 1972 it opened the Chita distillery, which allowed it to concentrate on its single malt brand. These days, it’s among the most desired in the globe.
