Karuizawa Noh 22 Years Old 2016
Karuizawa is the gold standard of rare Japanese whisky. The distillery closed its doors in 2011, although it had not been producing whisky for over a decade. This bottle from the Noh series is from a sherry cask, distilled in 1994 and bottled 22 years later. A very rare Karuizawa, it comes in a box with only 435 bottles ever released.
Karuizawa distillery was a small distillery in Karuizawa which produced first class malt whiskeys. There is no shortage of thawing snow at Mt Asama and due to this the chilly climate provided an excellent location for whiskey making. In 1976 therefore, the first 100% domestic malt whiskey saw the light of day at Kuruizawa. The whiskey was stored in small barrels, the distillery furthermore used small pots for distillation. This very small distillery was noted for producing whiskey of the finest quality.
