ジ・アース・イズ・ウェア・イット・オール・ビギンズ
The Earth is Where it all Begins
Tsuchi means earth in Japanese. It is a fitting name for a whisky from a distillery defined by its farm-to-bottle philosophy.
By using 100% of its own organic barley, Kiyokawa creates a whisky that is inseparable from the earth from which its core ingredient grows.
The earth provides the sustenance that gives the barley life and ultimately shapes the whisky’s character and flavor profile at the earliest stage.
キヨカワ・ディスティラリー、イイヤマ、ナガノ、日本
Kiyokawa Distillery, Iiyama, Nagano, Japan
Founded by David Troiano, Kiyokawa is Japan’s only true farm-to-bottle distillery.
Working alongside agricultural scientists, the distillery has developed its own unique strain of organic barley, grown by local farmers in the mountain fields surrounding the distillery.
Every stage of production is guided by an uncompromising approach to quality. From the barley in the fields to the whisky in the bottle, Kiyokawa refuses to cut corners, believing that exceptional whisky begins long before distillation.
シングル・エクス・オロロソ・カスクで熟成
Matured in a Single ex-Oloroso cask
The Tsuchi is the first release from Kiyokawa that has been matured in an ex-Oloroso Sherry cask, which has imparted a wonderful array of rich and fruity notes onto the Cask Strength spirit.
The Kiyokawa Distillery are very particular when it comes to cask selection, ensuring that each and every barrel they purchase is of the highest quality.
Their Oloroso barrels come from Jerez, in Spain, and each arrive with 10L of sherry in the cask, ensuring they are as fresh as possible.
ストーリーのあるデザイン
A Storied Design
The bottle design depicts Kiyokawa Distillery at harvest time, capturing the landscape of Iiyama as the barley fields reach maturity.
It represents a defining moment in the distillery’s year, when the fruits of the earth are gathered and the land reveals its yield.
The washi paper label is adorned with silver foil and the bottle is finished with a stunning, green wax seal.
It's a tribute to Tsuchi, and to the soil that gives Kiyokawa whisky its beginning.
