Yamazaki 18 Year Old is an award winning Japanese single malt. This legendary 18 year old whisky earned a Gold at the 2007 International Spirits Challenge and a Double Gold at the 2005 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Being one of Suntory’s most popular products, you know you have quality when you have Yamazaki.
Suntory is the oldest whisky making company in Japan. Its origins stretch back to a small shop, started in 1899 by Torii Shinjiro, which specialized in selling imported wines. Today, it is the country’s largest and most recognizable producer of quality whisky. Yamazaki 12 Year black box was introduced to the market in 1984 and was the first seriously marketed Japanese single malt whisky.
This brand new Nikka Session comes in a stunning matte blue bottle, with flowing Japanese artwork and the title “Session” adorned across the label. It is a world blended whisky that was created from spirit produced at the Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries, masterfully blended together with whisky from Scotland’s hugely famous Ben Nevis distillery.

The blend includes carefully selected vintages, married together by Suntory’s team of expert blenders. The addition of a few wine cask-aged whiskies in the blend delivers a round, well-balanced profile and immense depth.

Bursting with peat and oak, the depth of this expression is described on the label, as clear as can be. Nikka has come a long way since it was founded by Masataka Taketsuru, the “Father of Japanese Whisky.” Today, it is an empire, and its products frequently win awards at international whisky competitions. This exciting new ‘Sarorunkamuy’ limited release from the up and coming Akkeshi distillery is their first ever single malt release (aged for more than 3 years). They have previously released a number of new-make expressions, titled “Foundations” that allowed us to get a taste of the maturing stock first distilled in 2016 and they were well received by fans and critics.

This brand new Yamazakura 963 18 Year Old is the first single cask pure malt whisky in the popular 963 range and it’s available first right here on dekanta. After distillation, it was matured for a total of 18 years, including a finishing period in Japanese Mizunara oak that has imparted an incredible range of winter spices, aromas of incense and subtle wasabi spice onto the otherwise sweet and fruity spirit.
