The Can’t-Miss 2017 Whisky Events

Every year, special whisky events are held around the world; 2017 will be no exception. We want to share the Japanese Whisky Events 2017 we know will give you the full experience of Japanese whisky tasting, so check out the following events and add them to your calendar:

Chichibu Whisky Matsuri (Japan)

Date: February 19, 2017

Time: 11am-7pm

Chichibu Distillery, owned by Venture Whisky Ltd., is hosting an extravagant festival featuring its most-prized spirits in its hometown at the Chichibu Shrine. While you’re there, you can add a limited-edition bottle of Ichiro’s Malt and even get your hands on an ultra-rare Hanyu bottle from this distillery. Advance tickets will cost ¥3,000 (~$30 USD) and tickets bought on the day of the festival will cost ¥5,000 (~$50 USD).

Whisky Festival in Moeginomura (Japan)

Date: April 15-16

Time: 12-5pm (April 15th), 10am-7pm (April 16th)

This annual whisky festival held in Moeginomura, near Suntory’s Hakushu Distillery, will begin on April 15th and end on April 16th, making it a great weekend getaway to taste and savor a variety of Japanese whiskies.

Whiskey Obsession Festival (USA)

Date: March 29th – April 1st

The Whiskey Obsession Festival is a famous American whisky event where spirits from all over the world, including Japan, come together for the tasting tour of this festival. Not only will you be able to try drams from across the globe, but you’ll also be able to participate in other activities during the event such as master classes and a dance party.

World Whisky Day (Worldwide)

Date: May 20, 2017

All whisky lovers raise a glass of exquisite dram to celebrate this international event. You can host your own official World Whisky Day event, which you can learn how to do here. It’s a fun and exciting day to share with your fellow whisky enthusiasts and a perfect day to try new spirits. If you’re not already acquainted with Japanese whisky, we think the award-winning Yamazaki 12 year-old is a good place to start.
