More Yamazaki Sherry Casks!

If you follow the world of whisky, then you may already be aware that the Yamazaki Sherry Cask is considered the best whisky on the planet!

The whisky world, as well as the media, has been obsessed with the 2013 Yamazaki Sherry Cask ever since Jim Murray’s whisky bible named it the best whisky in the world! Over 1,000 contended for this coveted prize, with the Suntory whisky receiving a score of 97.5 out of a possible 100 points. Murray described its flavour as “near indescribable genius”. He also compared it to Macallan, and said “If anyone wants to find out roughly what the first Macallan 10-Year-Old I had in 1975 tasted like, then grab a bottle of this.”

As a result, whisky drinkers became interested – extremely interested. And this fantastic stuff unsurprisingly sold out at lightning speed. In February this year, Suntory released another vintage of its best whisky – a whisky that Suntory’s chief blender said was “not for novices”. In total, 5,000 bottles were released, bottled at 48%, and available at selected stores worldwide. With most of it selling out at presale, the British press actually complained that no one was able to get their hands on this sought after drink.

Dennis Tang of the Wall Street Journal describes its taste in the following words:

It begins with the nose experienced drinkers might expect from a typical sherry cask whiskey: dark and syrupy, raisin-like. But along with having the unexpectedly bright color of a Negroni, the Sherry Cask packs a surprisingly sweet and sour yet chocolate-y and rich taste on the tongue, with a long bittersweet finish to complete the tour.

In short, this is a whisky for those who settle only for the best, those who prefer to try out the best, and those who are looking for an investment. If there is one thing in this world we can be certain of, it’s that a whisky like this is not going to become any less valuable! Luckily for you, we at dekantā still have a few bottles available; we suggest you grab them while they’re still here!
