The Best Of Black Friday At dekanta

It’s Black Friday and that means a day of hunting for bargains, buying Christmas presents and treating yourself to that special something that you’ve had your eye on for a while. In getting with the spirit of things, we’re running our biggest ever sale to date, with hundreds of bottles of top quality Japanese whisky on offer at heavily discounted prices. With that in mind, I thought I’d take some time out of my day to highlight five of our best discounts today, at least two of which I’ll be personally taking advantage of! It’s worth baring in mind that all bottles in our Black Friday sale qualify for free shipping, wherever you are in the world!

5. Hibiki 21 Year Old – $749

The multi-award winning Hibiki 21 is one of the best Japanese whiskies on the market and without a shadow of a doubt one of my all-time favourites. I don’t often get the chance to buy myself a bottle, but with $150 off today, I won’t be able to stop myself.

Having won World’s Best Blended Whisky in 6 out of the last 9 years, this is one that will go down in history as one of the best creations ever made and I’m looking forward to savouring every drop of my bottle of the next 6 months or so (if I can make it last that long!).

4. Kamiki Intense – $99

When I first tasted the Kamiki Intense, it was during a Tweet Tasting that I was fortunate enough to be a part of, and I was absolutely shocked, astounded and in love with what I found. The aromas and flavours that you’ll find in this one are unlike anything else on the market and that’s mostly comes down to the use of cedarwood casks in the maturation process.

Rich piney notes, that immediately bring Christmas trees to mind are the most apparent and unique features and they’re backed up by a range of spices (including sandalwood and nutmeg) and a distinct flavour of ripening bananas. It’s a unique whisky that everyone should try and at $99 it offers fantastic value for money.

3. Matsui Mizunara Cask Single Malt – $149

The first thing I’ll say about this one is that the only reason I’m not buying it today is that I already have three quarters of a bottle sitting on my shelf. Produced by the up and coming Matsui, owners of the Kurayoshi distillery, this one was matured in Mizunara wood that has imparted distinct spices and an impressive depth of flavour on the sweet and spicy non-age-statement spirit.

I hadn’t tried this one until it was named “Best Japanese Single Malt” in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2020, but once I did, I realised what all the fuss was about. It is deep, complex, sweet and spicy and most of all – perfectly well balanced. You won’t find a better NAS whisky for this price anywhere in Japan.

2. Yamazaki Limited Edition 2017 – $399

The Yamazaki Limited Editions range was a huge success for Suntory that sadly came to an end do to the on-going Japanese whisky shortage and the 2017 bottling is my favourite of them all. Made up from whisky matured in a variety of different cask types, it brings an unparalleled complexity and elegance only found in the best Japanese whiskies.

With $150 off this rare and unique bottle, that is hard to find on today’s market, this is one of our best offers of the day that should not be missed out on. Not only is this a delicious whisky from the hugely successful Yamazaki distillery, it’s also highly collectable and sure to go up in value as the years go by. This is the second purchase that I’ll be making today and if you’re an avid collector, it’s well worth adding to your collection.

1. Suntory Yamazaki 10 Year Old – $249

The Yamazaki 10 Year Old was one of the first Japanese single malt whiskies to enter the market and it was an absolute gem. Sadly it wasn’t long before it was discontinued and replaced with the hugely popular and successful 12 Year Old, however that has only served to add a degree of collectibility to this unique and well-rounded whisky.

With over $500 off of this bottle for today only, this fine and rare expression is one of the most heavily discounted bottles on our site today and provides an opportunity for you to get your hands on a brilliant piece of Japanese whisky history for a fraction of the price you would normally pay. Quantities of this bottle are highly limited so if you want to add it to your collection, you best act quick.
