This is an extremely limited release by the great Yoichi distillery, released in 2017, with only 500 bottles available for retail. The single malt spent its last year of maturation in a Moscatel wood cask, before being bottled at 46% ABV.
Moscatel is a type of Portuguese fortified wine which is made using sweet, muscat grapes. On the nose, the great Yoichi smoke is strong, with a subtle muscat fruitiness present in the background. Tropical fruit, and thick honey spread gently on the palate, followed by an intense peaty finish.
