Founded back in 1964, the Tokachi-Ikeda winery is the oldest in Hokkaido. Managed in a unique way, the winery is
operated by the town of Ikeda, who cultivates the grapes, and brews and sells the wine.
The wild grapes grown in the Ikeda area are a subspecies of the Amurensis variety, and are used in the Amurensis range. The expression is rather unique, with notes of soy, umami, and vegetation. A meaty, thick quality is found on the palate as subtle spice and herbs aid to lighten the experience.
