This hidden gem was distilled over 20 years ago by Wakatsuru Shozou Distillery - a long established, but not the best known Japanese distilleries. Wakatsuru Distillery obtained a license to distill whisky in 1953 and has been producing a small amount of whisky on and off since this time. Although some Ji-whisky companies would import unblended whiskies from Scotland and just blend, bottle, and sell them, this is a single malt whisky made at the company's own distillery. As the limited 20 bottles previously released have completely sold out, on 5 April 2013, the company decided to launch the second phase of Wakatsuru Sunshine Single Malt Whisky.
