Plum liqueur cask finish. After vatting with several malt whiskies from the Yamazaki Distillery, this single malt whisky was finished for a further two years in casks that were previously used for maturing Japanese Plum Liqueur. We already knew that Japan was capable of making superb whiskies but this was something new. A selection of Yamazaki whiskies, aged for more than 12 years in white oak, Mizunara, and Spanish oak casks, and then finished for two years in a barrel that had previously been used for Umeshu making! The ingenuity that goes into the process is clearly felt in the whisky itself. Only 3000 bottles were released in August 2008, and being limited to the bar trade only, it sold out fast. We are lucky to have one in stock from time to time!
