The Yamazaki 25 Year Old is the pinnacle of Suntory’s craftsmanship—limited, ultra-aged release that embodies the distillery’s rich heritage. As one of the oldest expressions in the Yamazaki range, it showcases the depth and complexity that only decades of patient aging can achieve.

Crafted at Japan’s first and most iconic whisky distillery, the whisky is matured exclusively in sherry casks, lending it a profound depth of dried fruit, spice, and dark chocolate notes. This meticulous cask selection results in a rich, velvety texture and a long, elegant finish.

Nestled in the lush forests near Kyoto, the Yamazaki Distillery benefits from some of the purest waters in Japan, sourced from the famous Oyamazaki springs. This soft, mineral-rich water is essential in creating the distillery’s signature refined and complex character.

Made from carefully selected 100% malted barley, Yamazaki 25 follows a meticulous slow fermentation and distillation process in both pot stills and rare straight-neck stills, which help refine its depth and complexity. The influence of time and climate in Yamazaki’s unique location—where humid summers and crisp winters enhance maturation—adds another layer of magic to this whisky’s development.

A whisky of this caliber is a true collector’s piece, cherished by connoisseurs and aficionados alike. Whether enjoyed neat, with a drop of water, or saved for the most special of occasions, the Yamazaki 25 is a journey through time, craftsmanship, and the very essence of Japanese whisky.

About Yamazaki

Nestled at the foot of the serene Ōi Mountains in Kyoto, the Yamazaki Distillery, founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii, stands as Japan’s first and most revered whisky distillery. Owned by the legendary whisky house Suntory, it draws on the pure, pristine waters of the surrounding mountains, which infuse its whiskies with an unmatched clarity and character.

Yamazaki is celebrated for its delicate, multifaceted expressions, where the artful blending of fruit, oak, and soft smokiness creates a symphony of flavors. With casks of American oak, sherry, and rare Japanese Mizunara oak, Yamazaki has shaped the Japanese whisky industry, earning a cherished place in the hearts of whisky connoisseurs around the world.

Suntory is the oldest whisky making company in Japan. Its origins stretch back to a small shop, started in 1899 by Torii Shinjiro, which specialized in selling imported wines.
