The Hakushu Distiller’s Reserve is a vibrant and lightly peated single malt that captures the distinctive character of the Hakushu Distillery, nestled deep in the forests of Japan’s Southern Alps. Sitting at the entry level of the Hakushu range, it offers a fresh, green, and subtly smoky profile, making it an accessible yet refined introduction to the distillery’s signature style.

Made from 100% malted barley, this whisky is crafted using pristine mountain spring water sourced from the Ojira and Jingu Rivers, known for their softness and purity. This mineral-rich water plays a key role in shaping Hakushu’s signature crisp and delicate character.

Distillation takes place in a variety of pot stills, allowing for the creation of both lightly and heavily peated malt, which are then blended to achieve balance. The whisky is matured in a combination of American oak and ex-bourbon casks, which enhance its bright citrus notes while adding layers of vanilla and soft spice.

On the palate, the Hakushu Distiller’s Reserve delivers fresh green apple, mint, subtle smoke, and a refreshing herbal finish, setting it apart from the richer, fruit-driven Yamazaki range. It stands as a tribute to the high-altitude distillery’s approach—celebrating nature, freshness, and the refined art of Japanese whisky-making.
