The Shizuoka United S is a remarkable single malt born from duality - a marriage of spirit distilled using the ex-Karuizawa coal-fired pot still (K) and the distillery’s modern, wood-fired pot still (W).

Each still carries its own distinct fingerprint: the K still imparts bold, rich flavours with a slightly nostalgic edge, while the W still creates a softer, more contemporary style, full of nuance and delicacy.

These contrasting spirits are brought together and matured in a combination of first-fill bourbon casks and sherry casks, each chosen for the character they contribute. The bourbon casks bring clarity and brightness, accentuating notes of honey, citrus, and creamy vanilla. Meanwhile, the sherry casks introduce richness and depth: layering in dried fruits, gentle tannins, and warm spice to create a sense of balance and length.

The result is a whisky that celebrates contrast and cohesion - vibrant yet composed, robust yet elegant.

On the nose, bright notes of golden fruit, candied orange peel, and a touch of soft smoke unfurl gently. The palate is layered and expressive, with flavours of malted biscuit, fig, honeycomb, and subtle earthy spice. The finish lingers with refined warmth, offering hints of cocoa, oak, and toasted almond.
