King of Qingshan 2019 Limited Edition Set $299.99
The King of Qinghan 2019 has arrived and it's set to be one of the most exciting releases of the year, just in time for the holidays! This new two-bottle set was distilled at Taiwan's brilliant Nantou Distillery and released to commemorate the King of Qingshan festival. The Qingshan Temple was established in 1956 in Wanhua, Taipei’s oldest and most historic district. The temples iconic door gods are made in traditional Huianxi style, and the stone lions at the front of the temple were carved from granite and bluestone in 1938, during the Japanese era, in classic, meticulous Japanese style. Each year the King of Qingshan Festival (青山王祭) is held, and for the second year running an outstanding whisky has been released in commemoration of one of Taipei’s largest annual temple fairs. In 2018, Mars released their tribute to the stunning temple and it was well-received by whisky lovers around the world. While topping Mars' release from 2018 is no mean feat, the Nantou distillery has stepped up to the plate and delivered two whiskies that not only showcase a mouth-watering range of aromas and flavours, but also highlight just how far Taiwanese whisky has come in recent years. The set consist of two gorgeously designed bottles released under the distillery's multi-award-winning Omar brand, one has been matured in sherry wood, with the other in bourbon wood. The list of awards picked up by Omar whiskies includesGold and SilverAwards at the International Spirits Competition and two SilverAwardsat the International Wine & Spirits Competition, and we wouldn't be surprised if The King of Qingshan 2019 bottlings picked up a few of their own. As the second in a series of six King of Qingshan releases, this is a highly collectable whisky set and with limited quantities available, it's worth grabbing yours while you can.
