As one of 309 bottles, the Karuizawa Vintage 40 Year Old single malt from cask #6114 is a vintage treasure from this now closed Japanese whisky distillery. Aged in a sherry butt cask for 40 years and bottled in 2014, this rich and complex whisky has a strong sherry and spice flavor that is a signature taste for Karuizawa spirits. This dram comes in a sleek bottle with a wooden coaster for display purposes. Once located at the foot of Mount Asama, Karuizawa Distillery was a historical Japanese whisky distillery that set itself apart with its one-of-a-kind spirits; even today, Karuizawa is highly sought after and has one of the rarest whiskies on the market. Though the distillery has closed, you can still enjoy the luxurious whiskies that come from this legendary distillery.

Karuizawa distillery was a small distillery in Karuizawa which produced first class malt whiskeys. There is no shortage of thawing snow at Mt Asama and due to this the chilly climate provided an excellent location for whiskey making. In 1976 therefore, the first 100% domestic malt whiskey saw the light of day at Kuruizawa. The whiskey was stored in small barrels, the distillery furthermore used small pots for distillation. This very small distillery was noted for producing whiskey of the finest quality.
