Only the most beautiful and smartest young girls can be selected for apprentices of Geisha and they have to go through many years of tough training to be the mastership. Geisha are well respected in Japan and seen as safeguards to Japanese traditional art. This particular Karuizawa bottle is a 35 year old 'Emerald Geisha' release from Bourbon Cask #8518.

Karuizawa distillery was a small distillery in Karuizawa which produced first class malt whiskeys. There is no shortage of thawing snow at Mt Asama and due to this the chilly climate provided an excellent location for whiskey making. In 1976 therefore, the first 100% domestic malt whiskey saw the light of day at Kuruizawa. The whiskey was stored in small barrels, the distillery furthermore used small pots for distillation. This very small distillery was noted for producing whiskey of the finest quality.
