Karuizawa is the gold standard of rare Japanese whisky. The distillery closed its doors in 2011, although it had not been producing whisky for over a decade. The 1971 is the first vintage ever released, making it a “die-hard collector/speculator” bottle. In total, some 430 bottles were ever released. This particular bottling has been awarded a gold medal by Malt Maniacs, and as it is the oldest bottle of them all, it's not easy to get one's hand on. Grab it while it's still there!
