The Kanosuke New Born 2019 follows on from last year's brilliant expression and it does so in style. The 2018 bottling was aged for just 8 months in American white oak ex-shochu casks and received plaudits from fans and critics. We expect that this year's expression will provoke the same reaction. This time, those at Kagoshima's Kanosuke distillery have aged their spirit in ex-bourbon wood for 16 months, resulting in sweet and slightly spicy liquid that showcases not only the influence of the bourbon wood, but also the depth and character of the relatively young spirit. Citrus fruits, pears, sweet cinnamon spice and lashings of vanilla are the stars of the show and they provide a drinking experience that you won't forget in a hurry. Not only is this whisky delicious right now, but it also gives us an idea of what to expect from the distillery in the future, and we think it's worth getting excited about.
