Suntory Whisky

Founded in 1899 by Shinjiro Torii, Suntory is the pioneering force behind Japanese whisky and one of Japan’s most influential spirits producers. What began as a small wine merchant in Osaka evolved into a company driven by Torii’s unwavering belief that Japan deserved spirits crafted to suit its own palate, climate and culture. This philosophy would go on to shape not only Suntory, but the entire Japanese whisky industry.

At the heart of Suntory’s approach is monozukuri, which means the pursuit of craftsmanship through harmony with nature. From the pure waters drawn from Japan’s mountains to the careful consideration of climate, wood and time, every element is treated as essential to the final character of the whisky. Suntory’s distilleries are deliberately located in diverse environments, allowing each site to develop a distinct personality that contributes to the company’s signature balance, elegance and, importantly, variety.

Innovation has always gone hand in hand with tradition. Suntory pioneered the use of varied still designs, cask types and meticulous blending techniques, establishing what could be the most refined house style in the world. Today, Suntory whiskies are revered worldwide, consistently earning top honors at international competitions and setting the global standard for Japanese whisky excellence.
