Perhaps the most common entry point into the world of Ichiro. As the name suggests, it is made from both malts and grains. This Ichiro’s malt & grain bottle is 70 cl, with an alcohol strength of 46%. The new range features fresh, new bottle designs and gorgeous labels showcasing modern Japanese art. Three expressions have been announced so far, one by Yamazaki, one by the Hakushu distillery, and one from Suntory’s grain distillery, Chita.
Akashi 5 Year Old Red Wine Cask
The White Oak distillery is perhaps the least known of Japan’s whisky producers. The distillery was founded by in 1888 to produce sake, and because of this, has a legitimate claim of being the country’s oldest whisky producer. In 1919, Eigashima Shuzo obtained a license to make whisky — four years before Yamazaki was built.
Ichiro’s Malt 3 Bottle Set
You’ve heard about Ichiro Akuto, right? His family have been in the alcoholic beverage making industry since the 1600s. Ichiro’s father ran the Hanyu distillery and began experimenting with whisky making until his unfortunate bankruptcy. Ichiro then founded his own distillery, named Chichibu, located in Saitama, just outside of Tokyo.
Nikka Miyagikyo Sherry & Sweet
Nikka is one of our favorite Japanese companies; not only does it make world quality whisky, but its foundation story is also so intriguing that it is the subject of a television drama. The Miyagikyo is its second distillery, being founded in Sendai in 1969. This Miyagikyo bottle was strictly selected from among the finest malts, distilled and matured in a sherry cask. It’s high quality stuff, like everything else from Nikka.
