While the recent news has focused around the discontinuation of Suntory’s iconic bottlings, Nikka’s production stoppages have flown a bit more under the radar with many fans being surprised to find their favorites have went to the chopping block. Over the past few years, the company has completely halted the sale of it’s entire line Yoichi and Miyagikyo age ranges.
With the surging demand for Japanese Whisky, Nikka was forced to eliminate these beloved lines and replace them with no-age-statement varieties instead. As remaining stocks have started to run dry, prices of these age range whiskies have begun to rise dramatically. Nikka’s most fervent fans are stocking up to keep their shelves stocked and it’s causing a corresponding impact.
