The Kanosuke Distillery have been releasing excellent limited edition expressions since their inception and this 2023 release is the latest superb single malt whisky to add to that list. It was created with peated malt that was distilled in 2018 and 2019, before being aged in ex-Shochu and ex-Sherry casks prior to bottling this year. The combination of cask types used for maturation has resulted in a well-rounded, moreish expression that delivers sweet, fruity and spicy notes on the nose, before a much more subtle palate arrives with citrus fruits, candied peels and gentle cinnamon spice. The finish is well-rounded, displaying a mix of winter and summer fruits, malt and subtle oaky tones. It's a superb new whisky and, as with all limited Kanosuke releases, stocks aren't expected to last long, so order yours while you can.
