The Mont-Perat Batch marks the fourth single malt crafted entirely from Nagahama Distillery’s own spirit. True to the distillery’s philosophy of “one brew, one barrel,” this release was carefully created by selecting only the finest matured malt whisky from Nagahama’s warehouses.

The whisky began its life in 2017, aged in bourbon barrels, before being transferred into Islay quarter casks to add depth and complexity. In October 2021, it underwent a final stage of maturation in both red and white wine casks from Mont-Perat, imparting a distinctive harmony of flavors. The vatting process drew on the expertise and blending techniques refined through Nagahama’s Amahagan series.

Tasting Notes

On The Nose

Opens with soft, cake-like aromas reminiscent of pound cake drizzled in warm orange syrup. Fresh notes of grapefruit, muscat grapes, and lemongrass follow, evolving into layers of aromatic wood, blackberries, and ripe plums.

On the Palate

Rich and inviting, with a burst of ripe red apples at the front. Exceptionally smooth, it unfolds into gentle waves of maple-syrup sweetness.

The Finish

Long, floral, and elegant, evoking osmanthus and violets. The interplay of fresh white-wine fruits (grapefruit and muscat) with the refined floral depth of the red-wine casks creates a beautifully balanced conclusion.
