The Karuizawa Distillery was established in 1955 in the foothills of Mount Asama – an active volcano. The area is a popular mountain resort and the distillery is the highest in Japan at 850m above sea level. Traditional, small-scale, high-quality production is the aim, with wooden wash backs, small stills, and sherry casks from Spain, all contributing to the process. The environment is also ideal for whisky production, with low temperatures and high humidity. Since the distillery fell silent their bottles have been sought after by aficionados around the world and this bottle is one that is sure to wet the appetite of any collector. The Karuizawa Flower whisky was produced in 1981 and aged for 33 years before bottling in 2014. It is an incredibly special whisky that is only available here at dekanta and as one of only 6 bottles, it is the epitome of super-rare, highly collectible Japanese whisky.
