Kanosuke Double Distillery is a deeply personal expression from Komasa Jyozo, a proud family-owned producer with over a century of history in Kagoshima.

This unique bottling brings together whiskies from two distilleries - Kanosuke and Hioki - each owned and operated by the Komasa family, and each contributing their own distinctive spirit to a whisky that’s as much about legacy as it is about craft.

The blend is a seamless integration of two contrasting spirit styles. Kanosuke’s rich, mellow new-make, distilled in custom pot stills and matured on the shores of the East China Sea with a bold coastal character, is carefully blended with Hioki’s more structured, lightly peated whisky for a layered, expressive dram. Together, they form a narrative of innovation built on heritage and a modern whisky grounded in generations of expertise.

Aged in American white oak barrels that once held shochu and bourbon, the whisky benefits from a unique maturation environment - one shaped by humid sea breezes, dramatic seasonal shifts, and an artisanal commitment to slow aging. The result is a whisky with a generous mouthfeel and a distinctly Japanese sense of balance.

Tasting Notes

On the Nose

Softly peated with vanilla, citrus zest, and toasted grain. Earthy undertones and coastal breeze notes.

On the Palate

Creamy and balanced, showcasing lemon peel, white pepper, and sweet cereal malt. A hint of brine and oak warmth.

The Finish

Medium and layered, with fading citrus, sea salt, and a trace of peat smoke.
