You’ve heard about Ichiro Akuto, right? If you haven’t, it’s about time you did! He is a rockstar of the Japanese whisky world, and his family have been in the alcoholic beverage making industry since the 1600s. Ichiro’s father ran the Hanyu distillery and began experimenting with whisky making until his unfortunate bankruptcy. Ichiro then founded his own distillery, named Chichibu, located in Saitama, just outside of Tokyo. This exhilarating 6 Year Old was distilled in 2012 and matured in a single 2nd fill bourbon barrel before being bottled in 2019. It brings a whole array of sweet and fruity notes from the bourbon cask combined with the flavours of superb Chichibu spirit and the results are a delicious and well balanced whisky that is mature beyond its years. An absolute gem.
