World Whisky Day is Approaching!

Whisky is quite an interesting drink, which we wouldn’t be selling and writing so much about it if we didn’t think so, too. In fact, it is so interesting that there is, by now, a World Whisky Day! Beat that Vodka!

In all fairness, we also have World Beer Day (another interesting drink), but let’s focus on World Whisky Day for now, along with all of the interesting discounts that we at dekantā will be offering as a result.
The designated date for the annual World Whisky Day is the third Saturday in May. In 2016, World Whisky Day will fall on this coming 21st. The idea of this day is to ensure that everyone celebrates the great brew that is whisky, so have a dram and enjoy it!

This recognized day is relatively new, having only started in 2012, but despite this, there are several places celebrating it all over the world. See here for information about anything going on at your friendly neighborhood bar. And if nothing is happening near you, why not create your own celebration? Throw up a Facebook event and invite your friends to join for some whisky fun this coming Saturday! Essentially, all you need to qualify is a nice bottle of whisky and some friends to enjoy it with you, and we at dekantā have many, many bottles that would be ideal for this occasion. So, we’ve compiled a list of bottles that we are offering at a discounted price for World Whisky Day. Some are so affordable, while still being excellent, that you literally have no excuse not to try them. And if you’d like to make the event a little more
special and perhaps more relaxed, we’ve got you covered with some of the most elite bottles on earth!

Yoichi Single Malt Final product
A new release from the geniuses at Nikka is The Yoichi, which of course, is Nikka’s premium series of whiskies. This 500ml bottle is perfect for those who haven’t had the chance to sample it yet. And at only $50, it’s pretty much a bargain!

Hibiki Japanese Harmony
The Hibiki continues to be one of the most popular whiskies from Japan. The name ‘Hibiki’ means ‘harmony’ in Japanese. This name also symbolizes the unique marriage of malts and a harmonious blend of flavors in the whisky. While the Hibiki Harmony may not be quite as superb as the 30 Year Old, it is, nonetheless, a perfect start for those who have yet to try out Suntory’s wonderful blended whisky. As World Whisky Day is upon us soon, we are introducing this at a bargain price!

The Yamazakura 16 Year Old
Sasanokawa Shuzo Co. Ltd was founded in 1765 and has been producing whisky since 1946, making it one of Japan’s older distilleries. The company released the Yamazukara 16 Year Old especially for the European market. The French love it, and if there is one thing you can say about the French, it’s that they know good food and drinks when they find them! We only have two bottles left, so grab it fast!

Yoichi Sherry Sweet Single Malt
Nikka was the life’s work of Masataka Taketsuru, the “Father of Japanese Whisky.” Its products are rightly celebrated worldwide for their quality, and it is not an exaggeration to say that you can feel the ingenuity of Masataka in Nikka whisky. Of all Nikka whiskies, perhaps the most celebrated is their Yoichi, strictly selected from among the finest malts, distilled and matured in cherry casks at the Yoichi distillery, birthplace of Nikka whisky. This single malt whisky is a master piece!

Suntory Royal Violin Bottle
Suntory is Japan’s principal beverage maker. The company’s very name is a seal of quality, as Suntory wins global whisky awards, year after year. From time to time, the company releases specialty bottles, eminently collectible favorites of whisky fans. This bottle has the shape of a violin.

This bottle was released in 1986 to celebrate the opening of the Suntory Hall – an impressive concert hall in Tokyo. Ever since then, fans have literally been fighting for bottles made for this occasion.

Yamazaki 12 Year Old Miniature 48 bottles in a single case
Suntory is the oldest whisky making company in Japan. Its origins stretch back to a small shop, started in 1899 by Torii Shinjiro, which specialized in selling imported wines. Today, it is the country’s largest and most recognizable producer of quality whisky. The Yamazaki 12 year old was introduced in 1984 and was the first seriously marketed Japanese single malt whisky. By now, it is an internationally coveted whisky, winning award after award, and having been named by Jim Murray as being the best whisky in the world.

The miniature bottles continue to be a hit here at dekantā, with customers continuously keeping us busy stocking more. Here, we have not one, but a whole set of 48 Yamazaki 12 Year Olds! If you are planning on throwing a party to celebrate World Whisky Day, it won’t get much better than this!
