Experience the luxury of this award-winning dram from Karuizawa! Karuizawa is a closed distillery in Japan and shut down its whisky production in 2011, but stock from the distillery remains and is a vintage treasure to the whisky world. This particular dram from Karuizawa is the Karuizawa 1972 Single Cask 7290 and was matured in a sherry butt cask for 36 years before bottling, giving it the signature Karuizawa sweet and spicy whisky flavor profile. This bottle won a Gold Medal from the Malt Maniacs, and only 528 bottles were released for this Karuizawa edition.
The Karuizawa Distillery was established in 1955 by the Mercian Corporation, which is owned by Kirin. This distillery shut down in 2011, but the valuable leftover stock continues to be released in limited quantities.
